Daniel is the Senior Manager, Approvals, Analysis and Issuer Governance at the Authority. Immediately prior to his appointment to the current role, in February 2021, he was the Manager, Market Supervision from May 2017. Prior to that position he was the Head of Regulatory Framework development at the Authority.
His current responsibilities include: providing technical and strategic leadership in licensing of market intermediaries, approval of issuers of securities to the public, financial analysis and reporting and issuer governance.
Daniel has been a key driver in the development of various regulatory frameworks including those that buttress corporate governance for market intermediaries and listed companies, conduct of business for market intermediaries, demutualization of the NSE, REITs, derivatives, harmonization of securities legal regime in the East African Community and securitization. He also played a key role in putting together the application of the Authority to become a signatory to the IOSCO MMoU.
Daniel is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. He holds a Master of Laws (International Business Law) from The University of London, UK, a Graduate Certificate in Capital Markets from The George Washington University School of Business, USA and a Bachelor of Laws degree from The University of Nairobi. He also holds qualifications in accountancy (CPA) and company secretarial practice (CS). Daniel is an International Finance Corporation (IFC)-Milken Institute Fellow and a member of the Law Society of Kenya.
