Esther Manthi

Esther is the Senior Manager, Investigations & Enforcement. Previously, she served as the Manager, Licensing and Approvals at the Capital Markets Authority- where she undertook  the ‘gatekeeping’ role by reviewing applications for licensing and approvals for both debt and equities to ensure compliance with the regulatory framework while at the same time deepening the capital markets in Kenya.

Esther has over 16 years’ experience in litigation, corporate commercial law, fintech and regulatory sandboxes, mergers and acquisitions.  She has previously worked in law firms as a senior associate in charge of corporate commercial transactions and in committees of Government to ease the doing of business.

Esther holds a Bachelor of Laws degree (LL.B) from the University of Nairobi, and a Master of Arts Degree (International Conflict Management) from the Institute of Diplomacy and International Studies, University of Nairobi.  She is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya of 16 years’ standing, with extensive experience in legal practice. She is also a Certified Financial Analyst (ICIFA). Esther holds the Global Certificate Program for Regulators of Securities Markets from Havard University/International Organizations for Securities Commissions (IOSCO).

Esther leads the Regulatory Sandbox Review Committee at the Capital Markets Authority.  She possesses a good understanding of regulatory sandboxes and fintechs.  She holds a Certificate in Fintech and Regulatory Innovation from the Cambridge Judge Business School.
